University Lumière Lyon 2 X Evelity : Campus Navigation and Wayfinding

With more than 27,000 students — including 8,000 first-year students — Lumière Lyon 2 University faces a major challenge: helping everyone easily find their way around a vast, complex campus spread across 26 buildings.

To support new arrivals from day one, the university chose to roll out Evelity, an inclusive navigation app designed to simplify movement both indoors and outdoors. The impact was immediate during the 2025 back-to-school period.

 

A Campus That’s Hard to Navigate for New Students

In interviews filmed on campus, students and staff share similar experiences:

“You can get lost really quickly.”
“The buildings are so big — it’s hard to know where to go when you first get here.”

The first weeks of term are often stressful, especially for students navigating their timetables and rooms for the very first time.

With Evelity, the university aimed to provide a simple, intuitive, and universal tool to ease the entire orientation process.

A Structured Rollout and Strong Communication

To ensure widespread adoption, Lyon 2 launched a multi-channel communication effort: posters, banners, QR-code stickers, social media posts…
The result: 📈 a sharp rise in usage from early September, with clear peaks during rush periods such as the first week of classes — as shown in the KPI report.

Strong Usage from Day One

Between August 18 and November 2, 2025, Evelity saw:

  • +2,200 unique users

  • +11,000 map explorations

  • +6,300 points of interest viewed

  • +2,000 turn-by-turn routes started

These numbers reflect real, repeated use — proving the relevance of the deployment.
